Andrzejki (St. Andrews’s Day) and Bigos! (Hunter’s Stew)
Washington, DC 20036
St. Andrew’s Day is celebrated throughout Europe. In Poland, it was traditionally the last feast before the pre-Christmas fast. Believed to be the best day of the year for divination, it was a day when many would try to find out what was in store for them in the future and is still a time for parties in Poland. We’ll be celebrating with Polish Hunter’s Stew, Charlotka and hot spieced cider. And who can resist trying to know the future? We’ll be using various traditional Polish traditions such as pouring hot wax through a keyhole and reading apple peels to help everyone learn what the future holds!
