Bacon is not only fried as in the US both often boiled and baked in a slab. Diced fried bacon nuggets are a smoky version of skwarki, used to garnish potatoes, pierogi, groats, noodles, and other lean foods. Uncooked diced bacon is usually one of the ingredients of bigos.
