In the town of Tarnopol, men still gather to gossip in the streets, and religious processions are a part of daily life. But behind the outward serenity lies a tragic secret. When Hitler's troops marched into Poland in 1939, there were 18,000 Jews living in Tarnopol. Six years later, when Tarnopol was liberated from the Nazis, there were fewer than 200 Jewish survivors.
