He is part of a daily show of a travelling circus.
One night he frees the animals out of their cages in drunken stupor. Then he has to leave and starts up his own show. Along the way, he rescues a woman. She joins him in his bus and becomes his assistant. Later on, an accordion player equally joins them, who seems to be running away from himself, his family and his past. A travelling French woman becomes part of the group, and a short-lived friendship evolves amongst the searching souls.
Alexander has lost his ability to love and his trust in love. He creates a wall between himself and the others. For a moment it seems as if the young woman is able to change everything. Will he seize the opportunity offered to him?
