Looking to find out what happened in his childhood, Viktor Stein, a journalist from Berlin, travels to the small coastal village Stepnica in western Poland.
The investigation into the mysterious death of his mother leads him onto a dangerous path deeper and deeper into the ever more hostile community of the secluded village.
