Polish actor Jerzy Stuhr (The Decalogue) directs and stars in the Golden Lion award-nominated tale of hapless lawyer Adam Borowski, who leads an impeccable professional life alongside a chaotic personal one. Though highly respected for prosecuting everything from child endangerment to racially-motivated attacks, Adam fails to take care of his mounting problems at home--a sick mother, a relentless taxman hot on his trail, and a demanding mistress. Carrying on in the tradition of his mentor, director Krzysztof Kieslowski, Stuhr has crafted a morality tale of human frailty and suffering.
